Toa Tamaru - Mata Style (In Good Company Concept)

I begin almost every one of my sketches with the intent to MOC them. Art of existing characters are meant to be revamped, and art of new characters are often carefully planned for a built form. This one is no exception. Unfortunately, it would be a crime to build Tamaru without his teal, so I'm stuck with LDD.

I've long been thinking of writing a story based on the Chronicler's Company coming back to Spherus Magna in its darkest hour as the last hope. I've written up a plotline for the first half, I've started writing the introduction, and I've even built the Chronicler's Co. how I envision them on Spherus Magna. All of this is leading up to hopefully a design of all of them in Toa form. After getting a few ideas, I just had to start with Tamaru. I think Greg Farshtey once said that Matoran become the Toa form they associate with Toa. In my mind, of course that means that the Chronicler's Co. would appear as the classic Mata. Still, Tamaru is a mix of the new and the old. Lots of inspiration from Lewa and his Tohunga form, but also a lot of recognizable HF pieces as well as some new ones. The leaf motifs along the armor would function much as the current HF add-ons do, but these could be used to add a jungle, fire, or water motif, which is one of my favorite things about the art of NickonAquaMagna. A lot of the parts are designed with a build in mind, but he still turned out pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I hope I can do a few more of these on my train rides.
