On one hand, I love doing these, but on the other, I really don't have time for them. So... tag me if you must know more about a character of mine, I guess.
wanted to know some more about good old Kopen. I was hoping someone would tag her.
RULES:
1. Post 8 facts about your character.
2. Tag 8 other Characters.
3. Post their names along with their creator's avatars
1. Like Virse, Kopen was created for the BZP RPG Bionifight Infinite. She was actually my first character for the game after some friends from Corpus Rahkshi talked me into writing up a "Hardcore Hoto." Hoto just had such a beautifully dangerous weapon and was too gentle to use it.
2. Like Hoto, Kopen is blind. However, because I have a cruel sense of irony, while Hoto was a Rahkshi hatched blind, Kopen was a Matoran blinded by a Rahkshi. To be specific, it was a Rahkshi of Plasma, just like Hoto's brother Fang. To get around this disability, both Kopen and Hoto built clickers into their joints to provide a crude sort of echolocation as they move around. The faster they move, the better they see, which is why they both enjoy running.
3. Because most of Kopen's face was mangled and all but useless after the attack, she replaced it with a device that allowed her access to her Kakama's power. This unsightly mess of wires and diodes is carefully hidden beneath her blindfold and fashionable cap. This operation was no doubt excruciatingly painful, especially given that Kopen had no means to hire a proper surgeon, but she really will do anything to show she's at least as good as everyone else.
4. Besides the fact that I just like how cloth and leather looks on a biomech, Kopen's cloth was inspired by a doodle of a humanized Hoto I did a while back. It is the only humanized Bionicle drawing I have ever and will ever do. I placed this humanized Hoto in 1900s New York City. She was a young vagabond, living off the streets and gathering her little posse. Maybe I just watched Newsies one too many times. Of course, like Hoto and Kopen, she was blind and used clickers to get around.
5. When I first wrote up Kopen's profile, I set her species as "Matoran of Dodge," and later described that she was some kind of a Makuta's mistake who was blinded and cast out. Admittedly, it was ridiculous. Instead, she became a mischievous Matoran of Fire that her fellow villagers were happy to cast out the first chance they got.
6. Kopen is a bit of a rebel. It took her all of five minutes to get on The Queen's bad side, which was not a good place to be. Basically, she ended up as a vegetable with a shredded mind until a few Toa of Light, including Kale and Tenjou, fixed her up. She was also resentful of Rahkshi, Toa, and just about anything bigger and more powerful than her (which is a pretty broad group). Secretly though, she was just jealous. The Queen eventually had some idea of this, and after a few strange turns of fate, began to trust Kopen beyond all other Bionifight competitors. Kopen still didn't like her. After all, it's hard to like someone when your first impression of them is intense mental agony.
7. After the Bionifight facility crash landed on a hostile island, Kopen found a dying Tenjou. In a scene that was just too beautiful to do justice to here, Tenjou gave Kopen her dying words, and then infused her Toa Power into Kopen's staff. When Kopen reached out to take it, she was transformed into a Toa. And not just any Toa, but a Toa of Light. It was then that she realized she had been one of the Av-Matoran displaced in the Time Slip, which actually made a lot of sense to her. Admittedly, this little plot twist was done entirely for Kopen's benefit, because a blind Toa of Fire just wouldn't work out. A blind Toa of Light, besides being incredibly ironic, had far more potential.
8. But the best part about this transformation is that Tenjou wasn't a normal Toa. She came from a universe where Toa were guided by the spirits of their predecessors who resided in their Toa Tools. Tenjou's spirit now inhabits Kopen's staff, and is able to give her guidance as Kopen tries to grasp her newfound power. It's such a cool concept and I'm glad I got to play a part in it.
And... that's a wrap. I hope you enjoyed another wall of text. With Kopen being a derivative of my adorable little Hoto, I spent a lot of time developing her character to make her distinct from, yet with the core of Hoto. And I loved the idea so much that I've already created two more alternate Hotos and hope to make more.
Let's ruin some more lives today, shall we? I tag...

An Announcement...
First of all, I want to give a huge shoutout to Flickr's -Disty- for this absolutely brilliant Bohrok logo build. It inspired me from the first moment I saw it, and I'm just happy to finally have my own physical copy. If you're interested in the build itself, please head over to Disty's page to fave the original and get instructions for yourself. And without further ado... TL;DR at the bottom The Recap: Hey all. I've been meaning to post an update on my whole... situation for a long time, but words continually evaded me. If you've been a watcher here for a while, you might know that the last several years have been... really rough. I had intended to serve my church for two years, only to back out at the last second for my mental health. I lost one of my brothers in a car accident. I used to do so much more to show the gratitude I have for each and every one of you who have helped me to get this far, hone my talents, and just support me in the one constant in my life, and lately I've
Canonization and Customization
Hey guys, been kind of quiet here. I've been... organizing my thoughts for a long time, but life/MOCing/art updates are going to have to wait until another day. Today I want to explain my own feelings on a current subject that may have a huge impact on many of us fans of the Bionicle franchise.
Canonization
If you were unaware, Greg Farshtey (yes, that Greg Farshtey) confirmed in an Ask Greg topic that he would be willing to open up polls for canonization again. If you haven't already, I encourage you to vote on their survey about whether it's a move you'd like to see.
Okay, my thoughts on canonization. I don't like it. I think it's far to
Just a Heads Up (Shapeways) EDIT 1
As an FYI, Lego has recently issued a notice on Shapeways to any uploads containing the words "Lego" or "Bionicle" in the tags. As far as I can tell, they are simply preventing unauthorized use of their trademarked terms and, once I've removed those tags, business will resume as normal. In the meantime, expect a lot of my shop to go to private as I sort this out on my end.
I want to assure you there's no reason to panic. Lego isn't "crushing the custom parts industry" or anything. They're just protecting their IP, as any company should. It's a move I and many other modelers have been anticipating for a long time and we're ready to deal with
One Year Later
Monday marked one year since the car accident that took my brother Baylor's life. I've been told I shouldn't remember the date, but the first anniversary has a tangible presence in my home. Everyone has been handling it differently. My parents want to get away from any reminders, while my younger brother and I want to stay where things are quiet and familiar. The disconnect has just been adding to my anxiety about this week.
All my life, I've done things to keep those around me happy. I worked hard in school to keep my parents happy. I submitted my Mission papers to keep my LDS Ward happy. I put up with all kinds of abuse and neglect to keep
